Turn The Other Cheek
I was a new Christian for a few months. I made friends with a lovely family that was very musically talented. One of the families teenage daughters and I became fast friends. One Sunday evening, the two of us were headed to Church. One minute, we were talking and then the next she became very upset. I pulled over and stopped the car to find out what was wrong. When the car stopped, she got out and started walking away. It was clear she was very angry. I got out of the car and hurried to catch up to her. When I caught up with her, I asked again what was wrong. This is when to my surprise, she turned and slapped me on the face and proceeded to tell me off. At this point I began to cry and told her I was sorry for whatever I said or did to make her upset. I got back in my car and drove on to Church, confused about what just happened.
When the song service started, I went to the altar to pray. When I was close to being finished with my prayers, a hand touched me on my shoulder. It was my friend. She proceeded to ask me to forgive her. She then explained what was going on and told me that I didn’t deserve what she did. We proceeded to hug and continued in prayer together. When I got home after Church my past demeanor came back to me. Just 3 months earlier, before becoming a Christian, things would have been different. If anyone would have slapped me then, I would have retaliated with that same action at the very least. I also would have probably not spoken to them again. But GOD had done a new thing in my heart. He calmed my temper and crushed my vengeful nature. To this day, we still remain as friends. We serve an amazing GOD who can transform our lives. I continue to thank and praise Him for every change he has made in me.
