Spiritual Idling

Spiritual idling can be compared to a car engine idling. What would happen if we left the engine of our car idling in park and forgot about it all day? It would eventually run out of gas and the engine would die. We would then end up going nowhere. We need to put the car in drive and go out and take care of our daily needs. One of those needs is getting the engine filled up when the tank gets low.

I believe spiritual idling is a virus from hell. Satan would like nothing better than for us to leave our spiritual engine idling in park all day. We don’t read our bible. We don’t go to God in prayer throughout the day. We don’t witness to others about Christ. Just like the car idling, we will eventually run out of spiritual gas and our spiritual engine will end up dying. We need to get our spiritual tank filled up daily.

There is a vaccine for this virus. I need this vaccine more than anyone. It’s dying daily and putting Jesus Christ before anything else in our life. Luke 9:23 reads, “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” It’s not easy with all the distractions that come at us each day. Sometimes it seems like a fight. But if we listen to what Jesus tells us, He will continue to keep our Spiritual tank filled up and running over.
