Passing The Test

I remember back when I was going to school.  There were several textbooks with various subjects.  As each subject was explained by the teacher, it was important to pay attention.   I knew there was a test coming.  I would take the textbook home to study because it had the answers that would be on the test.  If I paid attention in class and studied, I would pass the test and move up to the next grade level.  If not, I would fail the test.  I would then have to take the test over.  Even worse, I would have to take the subject over again.

Our Christian walk will have tests.  There are times that we pass the tests and sail right along. We read the Bible occasionally and pray when we can.  But then, a hard test comes a long and we fail.  Why?   Some tests are going to be harder than others.  We need to pull God’s textbook (Bible) out and study daily.  2 Timothy 2:15 reads, “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”  He wants to move us up to the next spiritual level. The Bible is our textbook. It has the answers for our spiritual tests. We can also have a one on one with the Teacher through our daily prayer life with Him. The second sentence of James 5:16 reads, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

If we want to pass the tests including the hard ones, we are required by God to do two things. 1. Study the Bible to show ourselves approved unto God.  We can’t just pick the Bible up when convenient.  2. James 5:16 reads that our prayers are to be fervent. The Webster definition of fervent is “having or displaying a passionate intensity”.  We need to keep a prayerful attitude and pray to God throughout each day.  To sum it up, stay tuned in to GBN (God’s Broadcasting Network).
