Being Content
Being content in our situations can be difficult at times. The Apostle Paul states in Philippians 4:11-13, “Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Being content in my current situation has been a struggle for me. I’m expecting God to move the roadblocks now. I’m not feeling comfortable in my current environment. I’ve been letting my family and friends know of my discontentment. Instead of looking for the positives, I have been focusing on the negatives. Did it ever occur that God may want me in my current situation?
With this said, God has let me know that my situation will not change until I become content in where I am and what I have. God cannot move until I accept all things the way they currently are. God may not want to change my current situation. But even if he does, I have been binding His hands. When I woke up and realized this, I wanted to smack myself in the head. The answer has been there all the time. We need to be content in whatever we have.
