Are We Fishing Out of The Right Side of the Boat
In John chapter 21, Jesus again appeared to His disciples after His resurrection. Verses 3 to 6 and 9 “3, Simon Peter said to them. I am going fishing. They said to him, we are going with you also. They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing.” 4. But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5. Then Jesus said to them, children, have you any food? They answered Him, “No”. 6. And He said to them, cast the net on the right side of the boat and you will find some. So they cast and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 9. Then as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals and fish laid on it and bread.”
If we look at this with spiritual eyes, Jesus did not mean right versus left. He was meaning right versus wrong. Look at what the apostles were doing. They went back to what they knew what to do and that was fishing. Why were they not preaching the gospel as Jesus instructed them to do? Did they not see all the miracles He did? Their fishing flopped. When Jesus was on the shore, they didn’t know it was Him. He even called them children because of their spiritual immaturity. But when they listened to Jesus and cast their nets on the right side of the boat, they caught a multitude of fish. Jesus then shows them how He could provide for them. There was fish on the coals and bread.
Plain and simple. Are we fishing for men or fishing for the things in the world? God needs us to get His word to the world. He wants us to get our minds from the carnal or wrong side to the spiritual or right side. When I look, I want to know it is Him. Our minds need to be focused so we know it is Him. I do not want Him to call me a spiritual child. Jesus shows us that if we do as He says, the souls saved will be many. When we do these things, Jesus will provide our every need. I’m going to quit worrying and be happy in Jesus.
